This a one of a kind design I revisited. The cloth sails were replaced with aluminum sails. There are aluminum tubing pieces separateing the iron armature from the aluminum sails so there will be no rust transfer.

The design is meant to look like some kind of bug, viewer's choice. It is 6' high so it is large enough and heavy enough to handle strong winds. The action is turning until the wind gets up to 10 mph, then rocking and turning. This provides a continuously changing view of the sculpture which is something I really like about movement in general.

The basis of the construction is welded iron. The red form is wood dyed with a light fast red dye and soaked in hot paraffin wax. The aluminum is the usualy 5052 marine grade I always use for outside designs.
