Fine Art
My most recent oils are now on my blog: http://arthurhigginsoils.blogspot.com/ The objective is to show my most recent oil paintings. I paint about one a week and photograph them in batches of 10. These are posted on my Picasa web album: http://picasaweb.google.com/Arthur.Higgins

I'm going to be a little more pro active and use this site to seek private commissions. I have posted a new page on how to Commission Art, which is for kinetic sculptures, but the procedure remains the same regardless of the kind of art you are interested in.

What I do as an independent artist I call fine art which I define as uncompromised. Every part of the work is there because it needs to be and no consideration is given to a juror, curator, dealer, sales, art critic or anything else outside the work.

The content of my work is about the presence of nature; the subject is of places I visit from Alaska to Florida and derived from sketching trips on location. My paintings are in oils, 22" x 28" and my sculptures are mixed media.

I want to convey the feelings I get from nature, the emotional response. It is my belief that many viewers already share these feelings but may not be able to articulate them. The purpose of my work is to convey a generally felt truth and thus provide an insight to the viewer. I have no intentions of being mysterious, obtuse or confrontational.

Viewers already familiar with the places I visit, like Alaska, S.E. Utah or the Georgia swamps will identify more readily with the work, but if they have never visited or seen these places, the content of the work should still be available and thus have value.

Thank you for visiting. If you have any questions please send me an email.
