Snow forms curious shapes that seemed to take on a life of its own. I chose yellow to get away from the snow reference and because it seemed to be the right color.

A recurring interest of mine is trees that fall in between other trees and get caught there. This painting is about the catching.

Cucumber plants grow well in the Columbia Gorge and I am interested in the forms they create by climbing branches. The leaves are the subject here. They seemed to float.

It is doubtful I will ever tire of the old growth forest or really solve the problem of how to convey the size, power, and precense of theses trees but I will keep trying. This time the tree is compared to a curtain. These trees are so large that they block out space as well as light.
