The mosses in the old growth rain forest have the time and mosture to create forms that take on their own identity. This painting is about the presesnce of one of these forms.


The presence of saguaro cactus on the horizon is quite striking, especially when foiled against the foreground bushes which seemed to have no form or texture, just occupy space.


Basalt frequently forms separate from the main flow. This one is at Catherine Creek where there is also an actual arch in basalt.


Cypress knees are endlessly fascinating for me. These were inland, with no water and no apparent source. Foreign objects in a familiar landscape.
