All paintings in this portfolio are oil on canvas, 22" x 28" and painted within the last four years.

Red cedar trees in the wettest part of the Cascades grow well. The lower branches are often without bark and create forms that seem to have their own life.

The roots of a cypress tree seemed as if they were foreign objects coming out or going into the recesses of the tree.

Moving patterns are an irresistable subject for me. The pattern of lupine was a dance of shape.

The branches of Douglas Fir have their own presence and I see the branches without stems, simple shapes floating in space. This oil comes from a sketch in one of the few remaining stands of Old Growth Fir in Oregon.
