Kinetic and Mechanical Sculptures temporarily suspended until next year, March 2009
I have received a substantial public art commission for a school in Alaska which will occupy my time until next fall when it will be installed.
I have also sold everything I made this summer so I have no inventory at all. I have not quit, only refocused my attention to the public art commission. I already have three new designs for introduction on 2009. To see some of my past public art commissions please go to my public art portfolio.
In March I started another project that will be long term. I'm calling it the Sculpture Project for lack of a better name.
Thank you for visiting my site.

Garden Design

I have put together two pdf files for you to use as a place to start when considering outdoor garden sculptures. This may be helpful when planning your space and deciding on what you want your sculpture to do for you.

If it has gears or a push rod I'm calling it mechanical. Some are outdoor garden pieces, others are smaller indoor hand operated pieces.

HANDOUTS (Wind Petals™, Wind Accents™ Zephyr Melodies™/RESUME): If you cannot find the handout that has the assembly instructions, maintenance and care of your Wind Petal™ or Wind Accent™ , you can click on the links below which will get you to a pdf file. If you cannot find what you need, please call or email.

Lost the black thing? The black thing is what most people call the cross bearing used in many different Wind Petal™ designs. You can call or email for a replacement cross bearing. Apparently squirrels and grass gremlins eat cross bearings. Cross bearings also get kidnapped during the winter in that dark hole called the garage.

| Customizing: As you look through the designs, especially the Kinetic sculptures, keep in mind that I can customize to fit your situation. This would be such things as changing the base, deleting the base, making a new kind of base, using different metal, or changing size. Some of the changes I make don't cost anything because it is a trade off. In other cases there is an additional charge. What I'm saying is think about what you want and contact me if you have any questions about changes or customizing. My work is expressly designed to please you and sometimes it is up to you to make that happen. |

Here is a four page pdf file showing how the blossom is made. It is a good example of how I make all my designs.

BIO
|
For fifteen years I had a wholesale production craft business as Oak Run Studios. {Wind Petals™, Wind Accents™ and Zephyr Melodies™}. I have discontinued wholesale and am now only doing one of kind and limited edition work, all kinetic in one way or another, and in the mixed media I love use--copper, brass, aluminum, steel and wood. My studio is in northern Oregon, near Hood River where I have lived for 20 years. I lived in Alaska for 25 years before that. I have been a professional artist since 1962.
I am actively seeking commissions for one of kind, private, or public art.

 |
|
All my independent art comes from sketches from life. I frequently go on sketching trips during the summer, from Alaska to Arizona. For the last few years I have been doing one oil painting a week and about 4 fine art sculptures a year.
|
I have been building and flying model airplanes for over 50 years. It is an easy step from watching a model airplane fly to watching a sculpture rock and pivot.
|
I also hug trees.
